Sick tots horror of drugged care girlsBy PHILIP CASE

TEN girls heavily drugged at a Church of England care home have had kids with birth defects, a probe has revealed.
The teenagers were restrained with huge doses of tranquillisers and anti-depressants in the 1970s and 80s.

They were given up to ten times the recommended dose of valium.

Former resident Teresa Cooper — who was drugged at least 1,248 times during a 32-month stay — has three kids with birth defects, including a son who is BLIND.

Nine other residents of Kendall House in Gravesend, Kent, who suffered similar drugging have kids with defects including cleft palate and brain tumours, the BBC discovered in an investigation.

Shadow children’s minister Tim Loughton has called for an Ofsted probe amid fears hundreds may by affected.

He said there was “a need to know” how widespread the problem was.

The Diocese of Rochester has vowed to “cooperate fully” with any investigation into the claims.
