Road to nowhere

18th Aug 2006 | in

A poem about children in poor countries

Surrendered is your spirit
for it feels no blessing
as your young feet in flesh
tread dusty roads to nowhere

Surrendered is your soul
for it feels no freedom
as your young body in flesh
wonders the road to nowhere

Surrendered is your faith
for it feels no love
swollen body dying flesh
near the end of nowhere

Surrendered in peace
for there is no mercy
now past forgotten child
at last - somewhere

"wanders" not "wonders" this old english teacher says. death must be a blessing to starving children everywhere. all this money for wars when babies lack nourishment. how disgusting. God will turn his back on us if we don't do something.
