March against knife crime in London 20th September 2008
THE PEOPLES MARCH AGAINST KNIFE CRIME’ TAKING PLACE TOMOROW - SATURDAY 20/09/2008. IT HAS BEEN ORGANISED BY GEMMA ALWAY AND SHARON SINGH (A DRUGS COUNSELLOR). THE DAMILOLA TAYLOR TRUST ARE HELPING ORGANISE THE MARCH AND LINDA ROBSON (FROM ‘BIRDS OF A FEATHER’) IS ALSO SUPPORTING THE MARCH. THE MARCH STARTS A 9 AM . PEOPLE WILL BE MEETING AT CALEDONIAN PARK IN NORTH LONDON AND IN KENNINGTON IN SOUTH LONDON AND WILL MARCH TO HYDE PARK WHERE THERE WILL BE A RALLY. THOSE WHO CANNOT MAKE THE MARCH CAN ATTEND THE RALLY WHICH WILL BE STARTING AT 1 PM. *ISSUES TO BE RAISED INCLUDE BRINGING BACK NATIONAL SERVICE TO THE UK* IF YOU HAVEN’T GOT ANY SERIOUS PLANS DO ATTEND AND SPREAD THE WORD.

—24 May 2008: Rob Knox, 18, stabbed in a fight outside bar in Sidcup, South London.
—24 May 2008: Sharmaake Hassan, 17, found with gunshot wound to the head in Camden.
—02 June 2008: Arsema Dawit, 15, body found in lift at house in Waterloo with multiple stab wounds.
—29 June 2008: Ben Kinsella, 16, stabbed in a local pub row in Holloway, North London.
—03 July 2008: Shakilus Townsend, 16, chased by a group of youths in hoodies and stabbed several times in Thornton Heath, South London.
—07 July 2008: David Idowu, 14, died 3 weeks after being stabbed in the chest and stomach in Borough, South east london.
—17 July 2008: Frederick Moody, 18, stabbed in the stomach in front of his doorway in Lambeth, South London.
—06 August 2008: Ryan Bravo, 18, a bystander caught in the line of fire between two rival gangs in Walworth South London.
—16 August 2008: Nilanthan Murddi, 17, stabbed to death in a street brawl in Croydon, South London
*Even though this is a suspected racist attack and the suspect perpatrators are not youths, it is still the loss of another young life, hence the addition of the name on this list is justified*.
—24 August 2008: Charles Junior Hendricks, 18, found by police lying on pavement suffering from a single stab wound which he later died from, in Walthamstow East London.
—31 August 2008: Shaquille Maitland-Smith, 14, an Army cadet attacked and stabbed to death by a gang on bicycles as he walked with his sister and thier dog, Hackney East London.
*His sister was slashed across the face and neck but survived her injuries*
