Internet abuse, epilepsy site and child abuse sites attacked

2nd Apr 2008 | in

In recent months websites for vunerable people have been under DOS attacks and attacks that are meant to cause some form of suffering and recently highlighted was the attack on the Epilepsy foundation websitethat causedmigraines and seizures. Epilepsy is a very serious problems for sufferers so when exposed to an attack using Javascript to place flashing animations on the site it is a serious concern and also very dangerous.

The group responsible have been attacking many sites and in the last year have attacked many websites for child abuse victims and survivors including myself who has been personally attacked and so has no2abuse, rememberence websites including the Welsh victims, bebo, myspace, facebook, plastered peoples personal details across the net and in some cases got the information wrong causing further distress to those attacked off the net as a direct result of the online attacks and information.

The group are recently known for their attacks on scientology whichmany have suggested isjust an antic to get themselves seen in the unsuspecting public eye who have no idea of their attacks on many vunerable sites.

What do the government do about it? Nothing. What do the police do about it? Nothing and the police have no idea on how to deal with victims when they have been terrorised on the net as the police do not see online abuse as a crime which then leaves many left to deal with it in silence and they wonder why people commit suicide.

The suicide figures across the UK far exceeds 35 that are known to of been caused by online abuse and thats just the ones that have been reported not including wales. If people want to report there is nowhere for them to go and if they go to their local police they are sent on a wild goosechase and made to feel totally isolated and stupid so imagine being severely distressed and threatened and you get a shoddy response from your local police who wont help, many feel the last resort is suicide as they go on a downwards spiral.

I also have avery good friend who’s daughter was bullied at school andwas also being bullied on Bebo on top of the school bullies of which I saw the content as it was sent to me. I was horrified. The girl was 13 years old and the end of last year because there was no one to go to and her mother tried desperatly to get it taken seriously, the teenager was so depressed and in fear she took handfulls of pills and tried to commit suicide and almost succeeded. She is now unable to go to school at all and is getting psychiatric help several times a week to help her over the trauma she suffered from the online and offline bullying.

Internet abuse does affect people and it can turn even the strongest person into an isolated victim.

If anyone feels that low they must contact the Samaritans or Papyrus immediatly. Do not sit and suffer in silence

Internet abuse is a growing trend and very little is being done about it by the government. They do not take it seriously enough and the IWF and CEOP only deal with child abuse content and yet when anyone is under attack and is a teen or an adult they have nowhere to go for help or support and the police send everyone to the IWF or CEOP because the police are badly informed as to how to deal with internet abuse and give out the incorrect information to those seeking their help.
