The 5 murders of women working on the streets of Ipswich is a clear message of the dangers in the adult industry. This industry is home to many children turned survivors of abuse who end up fighting to survive as adults. They get little or no respect and yet they keep many offenders off the streets whom would or may otherwise prowl girls not in the industry. Street girls and Escorts do not enjoy the work they do but unless there is a serious change in the government this situation can only get worst.

News has travelled to many countries at the shock of 5 murdered women who worked on the streets of Ipswich.

Street workers and escorts face daily dangers from bad clients who put them through extreme dangers and often murder. But these situations are not taken seriously by police because the industry is not legal and therefor warrants no response or respect until a situation like this happens and there is a public out cry. Street girls and escorts fear being prosecuted if they report they have been a victim of a crime and end up keeping it to themselves and suffering in silence. When they do report a crime it is often unheard by what is supposed to be fair law. This leads to more rapes and un resolved crimes because the abusers are still at large.

Calls in the legalisation of street workers and escorts in order for crime to be taken seriously is something the government needs to act upon now. Not next year or some other month when they see fit but NOW. The government also needs to start taking seriously the amount of children that go from the care system into the adult industry and also become heavy drug users.

Rape is rape no matter who the victims are, murder is murder no matter who the victims are and are serious crimes. Those in the adult industry deserve the same fair treatment as workers in all other industries. The law can not set a rule for one and another rule for another. It is hypocritical to descriminate against a worker because of the age old profession that some see as taboo or perhaps her childhood may not of conformed to government standards. After all, many in that industry are the remnants of children once in the governments failing care system.

Escorts and street workers who use adult sites to get work need to be just as vigilant when taking on a client from the net. Adult sites that advertise street workers and escorts need to start taking more responsibility too. They make money from these girls/women for their advertisements and show no mercy when it comes to a girl raped, abused or murdered. Owners of adult sites must start taking some measures of responsibility even if its giving out safety advice on their websites which should come as a warning on the home pages which is clearly visable. Bad clients often find their victims off adult sites too which doesn’t just put street girls/women at risk but every women in the adult industry including escorts.

Street workers and Escorts must start taking extra care and if possible stay off the streets and off work until this man is caught. It is not worth risking your life for.

Heavily out of their heads on drugs make sex workers even more vunerable and prey to these sadistic men. If you can’t get off the drugs then at least make the effort to reduce your intake. Go to your nearest drug centre that caters for drug addicts and ask for help. It’s never too late and the notion that being out of your heads makes it easier if you are abused by clients isn’t the way forward. Just being out of your heads is enough to get you in danger and dampen your natural responses to danger. Is that quick fix really worth dying for? or suffering brutality from a client? Just remember that if a bad client does it to you, he will without a doubt go and do it to someone else.

Don’t walk the streets at night alone under any circumstances and always tell another girl where you are going and with whom. Give as much details about your client as possible. Girls need to start protecting themselves and each other and you can never be too careful.

If using adult sites to get business don’t be tempted by any offers of extra cash and always tell someone everything about any client your intending to meet. Log his details somewhere be it your pc, email it to a friend or any methods you can think of. Street girls should not get into any car if they are alone and car details should be logged by girls when ever possible. If you meet a client who has rang you up and wants to meet and got your details off sites, do not meet the client in a place that renders you vunerable and log his mobile details. If he with holds the number do not even entertain talking to him.

Every little helps in protecting yourself.

Has someone you know given you cause for concern in their behaviour recently? Report him. Don’t sit there wondering because it could mean the difference between another life lost or another life saved.

It’s admirable that shops in Ipswich and businesses are offering shuttle services and personal alarms. If offered a personal alarm, accept it as it may just be enough to at least alert someone that something is wrong.

Buses that sometimes drive right through a bus stop need to take more care in stopping at every bus stop even if it looks as if someone isn’t there. If you see a woman or girl running for a bus, don’t worry about the timetable, stop and wait. Mini cab drivers, be more aware when driving around and if you spot anything unusual, report it immediatly. This is also a time where husbands and partners need to be understanding at the fear women are facing from all walks of life. If you have the chance to take your wife or daughter to work, take her to work. Ring your partners during quiet dark hours to ensure they are ok.

Street girls if you have mobiles, do regular check ins with other girls. Set up a constant network of call in times to each other or get a trusted person to ring you at regular intervals. Dont do it by text because anyone could text, ring and make sure that person answers the phone. Give out a code name or number such as the number 6 or a word so that if a girl is in distress or scared, if she slips that code number or word into anything she says, you will know she needs your help.
