THE CARE LEAVER`S CHANCE TO TALK BACK.
There are so many people out there who have a story to tell about social services, be it a positive experience or a negative one.
But,The people we don`t seem to be hearing from are the care leaver`s. Those that have spent time with in the care system.
I would like to now give them a chance to share their experiences with others who have been in the same situation, living with in the care system.
Sharing these experiences with other care leavers.
I have personally spoken to many care leavers, and the conclusion i have come to is this :
Many feel they were very alone and isolated in their experiences. i`m not sure if it is only the care leavers who have had bad experiences that feel this way, or all care leavers.
Many have also told me, how of when they reached the age to leave the system how they just felt “dumped” into the big wide world with no after care or support. Often feeling isolated frightened and alone.
I have heard so many heart breaking stories of how after leaving the system, care leavers have ended up in prison, some have become drug users. while others fall in to prostitution.
So, I thought after hearing some of the horror stories, there must be some good stories out there, maybe care leavers just needed a place they could go to share their stories.
If anyone does feel they would like to share a story with us. all i ask is that for legal reasons names of professional either be changed or left blank.

Hi, I want to say, I did not get any help on leaving care but on saying that, I did not get any care while I was in care. Funny thing is that I was very happy to go in to care when I was 11 years old, I thought I would be safe there, there goes the saying out of the frying pan into the deep fat frier. Sorry it is not a good ending but really I don’t think you will get one on this page. Jules
