Teresa Cooper Kendall House Gravesend
No2Abuse was created by Teresa Cooper, author of Pin Down/Trust No One, to highlight the issues that plague the Family Justice System today. Teresa’s own extensive and traumatic experience at Kendall House is at the heart of her book, which exposes many of the difficulties that continue to undermine the care of our most vulnerable children.
No2Abuse is the culmination of over 16 years of research and is the definitive site for the Kendall House controversy. The site is also an up to the minute resource on public family law, news and offers a chat facility and forums for victims of care home abuse, articles on the system’s failings and interviews of leading figures in parliament and the family justice system as well as links to other helpful resources.
If you have spent time in Kendall house as a child or member of staff, Teresa would be happy to hear from you. You can contact Teresa via the site. Members of the Press who wish to contact Teresa may do so via the site also.

I have to comment on the saddening stories posted, I was not at Kendall house I was like Debbie, at Millbrook Grange and attended the court when Royston Owen was sentenced shamelessly he only got a twelve months sentence for destroying those girls lives. I was not abused sexually however the physical and psychological abuse I endured was constant and extremely damaging this did have a negative impact on me for a long time. I no longer allow these wicked people to determine my life, they are sad individuals who have taken advantage of vulnerable children. Royston Owen wasn’t the only one who should have been locked up. Thank goodness the place no longer exists I hope all those who have been so badly let down find peace and happiness please don’t give these people the satisfaction of determining your future happiness.

hey Teresa!
I just finished your book after a long time of searching in our library.
I’m from Sweden so my english isn’t so good but i hope you understand me.
I have never cried so much during reading as i did when i read your book. It touch me so much and i can’t believe what you’ve been trough. I have also been sexually abused by men but i can never imagine your situation. You’re such an inspiring and strong woman and i i’m so proud of what you’ve done for other kids after all the bad things that happen 2 you. I have so many words and questions i want to share with you but i can’t explain myself here. I don’t know why. But i feel so empty.
I admire you and your hard work and i hope people treats you well. Because you deserve it so much. And if anyone tells you that your not beautiful or special, just close your eyes and clear your head and think about all the people who’s supporting you. We are here for you. And i live for people like you. Thanks for everything, you’ve helped me so much. And i adore all your work!
Hugs

Hi Teresa,
I’m 16 years old and was abused at a young age twice over the years and reading your book made me realise how lucky i truly was under those circumstances. I know what it’s like to remember every grisly detail and you should be so proud of yourself for being able to escape that awful place. It’s sick how people think they can just treat children like that. I’m taking a childcare course so i can help others.
Thank you for being such an inspiration

Dear Teresa
Just thougt that you’re ought to know that your book is beeing read in Denmark as well.
I must say, this book, your life, it is so sad! But then you read the last 30-40 pages, and you realize that you, somehow, made a possible living. And I almost started crying when i read your last 10 pages (the epilogue). I am so happy for you that you are still friends with Jules, and that you have been gifted with 3 children.
And, congratulations with the Human Rights Award you recieved in 2009… You totally deserve it!
with love

Hi Teresa,
I have actually read your book about three times because it’s so beautifully written and I find your honesty as well as your courage deeply inspiring. I have also chosen to write about you as my inspirational writer for an assignment as part of my degree.
You’re a true role model..
