Teresa Cooper Kendall House Gravesend

8th Apr 2009 | in Kendall House Child Abuse News

No2Abuse was created by Teresa Cooper, author of Pin Down/Trust No One, to highlight the issues that plague the Family Justice System today. Teresa’s own extensive and traumatic experience at Kendall House is at the heart of her book, which exposes many of the difficulties that continue to undermine the care of our most vulnerable children.

No2Abuse is the culmination of over 16 years of research and is the definitive site for the Kendall House controversy. The site is also an up to the minute resource on public family law, news and offers a chat facility and forums for victims of care home abuse, articles on the system’s failings and interviews of leading figures in parliament and the family justice system as well as links to other helpful resources.

If you have spent time in Kendall house as a child or member of staff, Teresa would be happy to hear from you. You can contact Teresa via the site. Members of the Press who wish to contact Teresa may do so via the site also.

    Hi Teresa
I started your book yesterday morning, and have just finished.

I can’t believe the torture you went through, and I just want to say I think you’re incredibly strong and a sensational woman. I can’t believe the things that happened to you and the other girls in there, but the fact yo got out and managed to live yor life to it’s fullest showed they never broke you and that you are emotionally and physically stronger than any of them expected. I read alot of biographys, and yours truly touched me. You have to be one of the strongest women alive. I wish you the best in life and hope you live many happy years to come with your beautiful children.

    Hi Penny

Thankyou for reading my book and for your kind words and support. It means alot to me.

The care system is a long way from being a place most can say cares and I hope to see that change for the children who are put in care for their own safety but sadly are often greeted with abuse that far outweighs the abuse they suffered at home.

In order to make changes for children in care I felt it important to expose what the care system is like and there are so many stories out there of failures and may those children and survivors all find peace at some stage in their life. I am yet to find mine but getting there slowly but surely.

    Hugs and with love

    Hello Teresa.

I’m in the middle of your book right now. It’s amazing and very touching. I think it’s terrible how wrong the system can be, a system that’s supposed to protect you. It’s unbelievable how Kendall house got away with what they were doing. The authorities should have stopped them right away. They must have destroyed the lives of many young girls who lived there.

You’re so inspiring and I deeply admire you. It’s amazing how you survived everything you went through. You’re such a strong woman.

    Keep up the good work!

// Sandra, 16 years old, from Sweden.

    Dear Teresa,

I have just finished your book in one day, I did not want to put it down! The abuse you suffered is unbearably unimaginable. It infuriates me that nothing was done about it!! It’s people like yourself that inspire me, you went through hell and came out fighting smile Thank god for Aunt Betty and Uncle Don, they gave you love and support when you needed it the most. All the best in the future and take care. i deeply admire you! X
